A Step In The Right Direction

PROGRAMS AND CAREER OPTIONS

Whether you're a recent graduate or a professional looking to improve your station in life, SLCC is the right place to start.

Not sure what you want to do for your career? That would make you N-O-R-M-A-L. Very normal. And that's why you're smart to start at SLCC rather than spend mega-bucks at a four-year school just taking generals while you figure it out.

Maybe you know exactly which vocational avenue to pursue, or want to advance in your current career. If so, we'll help you go full-steam ahead with numerous certification programs in addition to our regular academic courses.

Whether you're certain of your destiny, or if the details are still a little fuzzy, our academic and career advisors have all kinds of useful tips and tricks up their sleeves, such as:

  • Check out all the areas of study available at SLCC.
  • Take a Career Clues Workshop – free, one hour, one-time class for those who are undecided. Available at Taylorsville Redwood Campus in the Student Center Building, Room 242.
  • Take CHOICES – free skills and interest inventory available on computers at Sandy Campus, South City and Taylorsville Redwood. Look for computers with the CHOICES icon.
  • Gather information on possible careers and how they relate to an academic major. Check out SLCC’s Career Library at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, Student Center Building, Room 242.
  • Don’t choose a major for the wrong reasons. This decision should be based on your own unique abilities, talents and interests. Choose something you love!
  • Spend some time on self-assessments. Clarify your interests, abilities and values. Eliminate all areas of study you are absolutely not interested in.
  • Meet with an SLCC Academic and Career Advisor
  • Read about SLCC's hot majors and careers in Step Ahead Magazine.
